How the scissor mechanism works

The crossed-leg linkage converts the hydraulic cylinder's horizontal or vertical thrust into platform lift, with the legs unfolding as the cylinder extends. Proportional controls let the operator stop at any point in the range rather than only at fixed heights.

Proportional controls also serve a safety function beyond convenience — smooth, stoppable movement reduces the risk of a load shifting during travel, which matters both for personnel platforms and for material-positioning tables carrying awkward or top-heavy loads.

Matching drive type to the application

Hydraulic drive gives the smoothest, most controllable lift for precision positioning work. Electric drive suits installations where hydraulic fluid handling is undesirable, such as cleanroom-adjacent areas. Self-propelled units add their own drive motor so the lift can relocate under its own power rather than being towed, which is worth the added cost on larger sites where the lift needs to reach several widely separated work areas in a single shift.
